Stone Water Features: Garden Fountains, Ponds, Waterfalls & Spheres
Why Stone Water Features Sell
Water adds sound, movement and life to a garden — and stone makes it permanent. Marble and granite fountains, ponds, waterfalls and spheres are high-ticket garden items that never rust or fade, which is why landscape architects, hotels and home gardeners keep ordering them. From a compact 60cm sphere with a trickle fountain to a 3m tiered fountain for a hotel entrance, Quyang carves them all from solid blocks.
The Most-Ordered Water Features
Repeat order categories from our workshop:
- Tiered fountains — classic 2-3 tier marble fountains, the safest selling garden fountain style
- Granite spheres & orb fountains — polished or rough spheres on a base, water flowing over the surface; very popular in modern landscapes
- Wall fountains — carved back panels with basins, for patios and indoor-outdoor spaces
- Birdbaths — carved pedestal bowls, the easiest entry product with steady demand
- Pond & waterfall features — natural-look stone arrangements with recirculating pumps
- Basins & spill bowls — wide carved bowls for courtyard and entry displays
Sizing, Weight & Pump Requirements
A 60-80cm sphere fountain weighs 200-400kg; a 1.2m two-tier fountain runs 500-900kg; large 2m+ installations weigh several tonnes and need a reinforced base. Every fountain needs a recirculating pump sized to the flow — generally 800-3000 L/h depending on height and tier count. Confirm the pump and fittings are included in the quote or budget for them separately, and check whether the basin holds enough water to run without constant refilling.
Marble vs Granite for Water
Granite is the better value for outdoor water features: it is dense, frost-proof and does not stain or etch. Polished black or gray granite spheres look striking with water flowing over them. White marble is beautiful but porous — it needs sealing and is best for covered patios or temperate climates. Travertine gives a Mediterranean texture that suits pool areas. For cold climates, always specify frost-proof stone and drainable basins so water does not freeze and crack the piece.
What to Specify in Your Inquiry
Send: feature type (fountain/sphere/birdbath/waterfall), overall height and basin diameter, stone and finish (polished/honed/rough), whether a pump and LED lighting are needed, and your climate (for frost considerations). A photo or sketch of the style you want gets the most accurate quote. Custom carvings are welcome — nothing in stone is molded, so unique designs cost little extra.
Packing, QC & Shipping
Fountains ship in reinforced wooden crates, bowls upside-down with foam padding, and tier pieces separated — basins and rims are the fragile points. Check on arrival: no rim chips, basin watertight (fill and hold), tier alignment, and pump fittings included. Ship FOB Tianjin by 20ft/40ft container, or door-to-door DDP for smaller pieces. Full export documentation and pre-shipment video inspection are standard.
