Hair & Wigs Sourcing Guide: Human Hair vs Synthetic, Lace, Grades

Why China Leads Hair Products

Xuchang in Henan is the world's largest wig and hair extension production hub, and China overall supplies the majority of the global market — from low-cost synthetic wigs to premium human hair bundles. For importers, the supply is deep, the factories are experienced, and the price points cover every market tier.

Human Hair vs Synthetic: Know What You're Buying

Human hair (Indian, Brazilian, Chinese, or a blend) is natural, heat-stylable, and lasts with care — and costs far more. Synthetic fiber is affordable, comes pre-styled, and needs no heat. Many buyers carry both lines: synthetic for entry price points, human hair for the premium customer. State which you need in your RFQ so the quote matches the material.

Hair Grades & Bundles

Human hair is graded by quality and cut — 6A–10A (or higher) and single-drawn vs double-drawn. Double-drawn, single-donor hair with intact cuticles commands premium pricing. Bundles are sold per bundle (typically 50–100g per bundle, 3–4 bundles per full head). For bundles, specify length in inches, weight per bundle, and whether you want natural, yaki, or body wave texture.

Lace Fronts, Wigs & Units

Wigs are available as lace front, full lace, 360 lace, and glueless styles; caps come in various sizes and materials (HD lace is the premium option). If you're buying ready-to-wear wigs, specify cap construction, hair density, baby hair, and pre-plucked features. Factories can produce private-label units with your brand, but minimums and lead times vary — confirm MOQ before ordering.

Color, Texture & Customization

Colors run from natural blacks and browns to jet black and vibrant fashion colors. Textures include straight, body wave, deep wave, curly, and kinky. A good supplier offers color matching, custom lengths, and private-label packaging. Request color cards or digital references so both sides agree on the exact shade before production.

QC, Packing & Import

Inspect for shedding and tangling, even wefting, and consistent length per bundle. Check the material claim — ask for a burn test or trusted supplier verification if material matters to your brand. Products ship in cartons; most buyers use FOB or DDP. Confirm import duties for HS Chapter 67 (or the applicable wig/extension code) in your destination before committing.
