China Export HS Codes by Category: A Quick Reference

One Code, Every Market

The Harmonized System is the world's customs language: the first six digits of a tariff code are identical in 200+ countries. Whatever you export from China, the 6-digit head is decided once and stays the same from the US to the EU to Nigeria — your destination country then adds digits 7-10 to set its own duty rate, VAT and restrictions. That is why every JJCIE quote and commercial invoice carries the 6-digit code: it is the anchor your customer's customs broker needs, and the only part you can rely on before the country-specific digits are checked. Below is the quick reference for the categories we ship — use it to pre-check a duty, sanity-check a supplier's code, or brief your broker before the container lands.

Stone & Garden (Quyang)

The big split is raw versus worked. Rough blocks travel under Chapter 25: 2515 marble, 2516 granite — low duty almost everywhere, but they are raw material, not product. Once the stone is cut, carved or finished for construction or decoration, it moves to Chapter 68: 6802 covers worked monumental and building stone — sculpture, statues, railings, balustrades, archways, fountains, birdbaths, urns and pavilions; 6810 covers cement and artificial stone articles. Worked stone (6802) is the code your stone garden order will almost always use; confirm with the factory's export invoice, which states it per shipment.

Textiles, Bags & Hair

Textiles spread across several heads: 6302 bed linen and towels, 6301 blankets, 5703 tufted carpets, 6109 t-shirts, 6110 knitwear, 6205 shirts and 6211 bathrobes and loungewear. Leather and fur garments sit in 4203. Bags and luggage are concentrated in 4202 — handbags, backpacks, school bags, travel bags and pet carriers all fall under the 4202 family (the sub-line depends on the outer material: leather, plastic sheeting or textile). Wigs, hairpieces and false beards — human or synthetic — are 6704, with related headwear under 6505.

3C, Auto & Hardware

Electronics are well-defined: 8518 headphones, earphones and speakers; 8507 power banks and batteries; 8504 chargers and adapters; 8544 data and USB cables; 3926.90 plastic phone cases; 8471.60 keyboards and mice. Auto parts and accessories use 8708, tires 4011, and used vehicles follow the vehicle chapter — 8703 passenger cars, 8704 trucks and dump trucks, 8701 tractors — with used construction machinery such as excavators and loaders under 8429. Wire mesh is 7314, and screws, bolts and nuts are 7318; general iron and steel hardware sits in 7326.

Pet, Packaging, Metals, Furniture & More

Pet supplies mix heads: leads and collars 4201, beds and pads 6307, plush toys 9503, bowls 3924.90, and pet food 2309. Plastic packaging concentrates in 3923 (bags, containers, bottles at 3923.30, film at 3920.20). Non-ferrous metals: copper unwrought 7403, copper bars and profiles 7407, aluminum sheet 7606, zinc 7901 — while PVC sheet and film is 3920 and PVC pipes 3917. Furniture uses 9403, chairs 9401, glass mirrors 7009 and float glass 7005. Artificial flowers are 6702, hand-knotted carpets 5701, bicycles 8712, children's balance bikes and scooters 9503, makeup brushes 9603, powder puffs 9616, imitation jewelry 7117, and cosmetics 3304.

How to Use This Reference

Three habits keep HS mistakes out of your shipments. First, always verify the national line: the 6-digit head is global, but the 8-10 digit tail — and therefore the duty — is not; ask us or your broker for the destination-specific line before you commit a price. Second, never let a supplier 'estimate' a code on the invoice: the code must match the goods, or the buyer faces fines and re-classification at the port. Third, use the code early — a quick duty check on your destination's tariff tool before ordering tells you whether the landed cost works. Every JJCIE quote can include the 6-digit HS code and the documents (PI, CI, PL) that carry it, so your customs clearance starts from a clean paper trail.
